Jacksonville, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will be landscaping three interchanges on the Hart Expressway from Atlantic Boulevard to University Boulevard.
The interchanges at Atlantic Boulevard (State Road 10), Alternate U.S. 1 and University Boulevard (State Road 109) will feature live oak, holly, magnolia, pine, bald cypress, crape myrtles, ornamental grasses and saw palmettos as Florida-friendly species. The project includes irrigation and other incidental work relating to the overall aesthetics of the 1.6-mile Hart Expressway corridor.
Contractors will work weekdays with minimal lane closures. No weekend work is currently scheduled.
The $880,000 contract was awarded to Lafleur Nurseries and Garden Center, LLC. Plantings and is projected to be completed later this year with irrigation and monitoring to occur during a two-year establishment period ending in 2022, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
The landscaping project has been developed as a concept in conjunction with District Two’s FDOTree program, an initiative created to educate the public about FDOT’s Northeast Florida landscaping programs. For more information, visit www.NFLroads/FDOTree.
